Heat Pumps and Energy Efficiency
Heat pumps use significantly less power to heat than traditional heating - this is why there has been such a growth of heat pumps for heating. So the amazing thing is . . . if you need 9Kw of heating, and electric heating is around 100% efficient, this mean you need 9kw of electric energy to product your 9kw of heat to warm your room. However - heat pumps transfer 3 to 4 times more heat than the electric energy used to run them. So for a heat pump to produce 9kw of heat, it will only use around 2.5 - 3KW of electrical energy. That's 300% more efficient!
